uniTEA: im making the pie yeah!! i've never made one before uniTEA: you can help uniTEA: and if youve got fresh fruit RIGHT THERE then obviously weve gotta do it at lilis
[ Okay, he is grinning kind of a lot now. Instead of replying immediately, Lupine first heads into the main garden; all pastoral hills out here, beautiful and temperate. After a minute or two of messing with the camera app, he manages a decent enough selfie, mostly focused on the garden in the background. ]
🐺: Favorite fruit? 🐺: Or Fruits?
[ Because he might be about to show off a little. ]
[ Her response, meanwhile, is basically immediate ]
uniTEA: oh wow!! uniTEA: that's amazing uniTEA: i like sweet crunchy apples and pears and blackberries uniTEA: and blueberries and strawberries and blackcurrants and gooseberries and uniTEA: there's not much i don't like lol but those first 3 are my faves
[ Pause for smothered laughter, then a couple minutes more, before she gets another photo: one apple tree, one pear tree. They are definitely where there used to just be a rolling hill. ]
🐺: Apples and pears should go together really well in a pie 🐺: Save the blackberries blueberries strawberries etc for next time?
[ ...Might be grinning at his phone doofily again, but look she's so excited, okay. ]
🐺: I'll be waiting by the elevator
[ And so he is, a moment later! Leaning against the wall with deceptive chillness. Wearing the (now distressed) sweater tunic from Outfit #1 with the stockings + jeans and boots from Outfit #2, and the belt from Outfit #3. His hair's down and loose, except a very thin braid around the crown of his head, through which he's threaded a couple of wildflowers, and he has just eyeliner on today, but he's gotten way better at it. ]
Edited (tl;dr the boy is a little bit (more) prettied up today, which is important for tea to know, obviously) 2021-10-21 09:19 (UTC)
[ Well, that's adorable, and so is she. Lupine's grin broadens out at the sight of her, and then he chuckles. 'Looking handsome' processes much more easily as a social nicety, though, than some of the other things people have been saying to him, so there's no beat of visible surprise for once. Instead, he's quick to return the regard. ]
Thanks. Hopefully it'll go okay with the nail polish. [ A wink. ] You look great, of course.
[ He might especially like the legginess, but there's just an appreciative beat of looking before his eyes are back on her face — where they mostly manage to stay, despite clear Awareness of her ears. ]
The braid's a nice touch.
[ T, turning to get the door to the dorm open! He'll lead her directly to the kitchen and get out aprons, because nice clothes. ]
[ traumatic memory fallout, what traumatic memory fallout. this dragon has never known trauma in her LIFE. she happily skips along with him into the dorm, taking a curious, appreciative look around at everything and anything. ]
Aww, thank you. I like wearing it plaited, I should do it more often. [ she laughs. ]
As for your nails, just you wait. I've got a ton of colours now, we'll find something that fits you.
[ Well, when you put it that way, it's maybe a little concerning! But Lupine is fine with pointing things out as they pass. Like, say, that's the staircase that leads to the sunroom, but he won't actually call it the 'cuddle' sunroom out loud, because No, so that can be a nice surprise some other time. He also indicates the door that will lead to the alder porch and beyond it to the garden he was standing in earlier.
Everything about LiliS's aesthetic is rustic-wood-cabin-cozy. Lots of solid wood and wrought-iron, with soft lighting, and the kitchen is no different. ]
Yeah, it's a lot of hair to wrangle, but definitely worth it. [ Tiniest tease over his shoulder. ] I went with 'black' for my, uh, position color, but it turns out lupine-the-flower is purple... [ Trails off, then shrugs lightly. ] I'm good with anything.
[ He has a couple baskets in the kitchen, and the stove is already preheating. It's possible he checked on the infernet for a couple of pie recipes quickly after she mentioned apples and pears. Scoops up the baskets and turns to face her. ]
Hmm, well, we can think 'bout that later. It's time for fruit!
[ Reaches for one of the baskets ]
I found a recipe for pastry online and it looks like it shouldn't be too hard ... The dough has to rest for an hour or two before we can roll it, so we' ll prob'ly have some time to kill after we've done the fruit prep.
[ The rush of warm air takes her by surprise - a (chirp-like) sound of delight escapes her, and she's quick to head inside. TIME FOR EXPLORATION. AND SNACKS. ]
[ My total bad, the normal garden does indeed do a normal day/night cycle, but yeah it's always temperate and the season never changes. ] [ ...Following, all fondness now. It's really kind of beautiful in here: shrub-lined paths wind between flower beds, alder and birch trees ring the area, and just beyond the tree line is a high stone wall, covered in moss and climbing flowers. It doesn't get too hot out here, but there's still sloped roof extending out over the alder porch with a nice table and wicker chairs to sit at and just enjoy the scents of the garden.
Here and there, there's evidence of various LiliS members planting something specifically to grow fruit, or vegetables, or an herb, a little haphazard — and, of course, the apple and pear tree that Lupine added in earlier. He picked the best spot he could, but he still can't help thinking that these things don't really belong here. And so he went to the rest of the unit and suggested they try and get an orchard going.
He moves to the apple tree, but he's going to lean against it and watch her explore for a little while before he actually picks anything. ]
It reminds me of home. Well! Except the weather, it's warmer in here. Lookit all of this ... [ She's not trying to snack just yet, but she does touch and feel and sniff everything, closing her eyes to appreciate the scents and textures. ]
[ —Yeah. It's nice to see. His smile in return is slower, but no less genuine. ]
Night garden's even better. But, we should probably get the pie going first.
[ A wink. He gestures at the little trees; more than enough fruit for the one pie, that's for sure. And, bracing for retcon, but for the moment, assuming Rapunzel can ripen fruit, so the fruits are presently all a little under-ripe, and: He taps a finger to one of the apples and focuses to bring it slowly riper. ]

Yeah, that sounds about right. This is gonna be my first pie, I think — or, well, if it's not, I didn't have a recipe memorized.
[ Leading back out of the kitchen to the other door; when he opens it, warm air comes rushing in, because this garden is always a nice summer day. ]
I'll set a timer on my phone and we can check out the night garden while we wait.
