I would've thought being any kind of dragon would cover that part. [ Beat. ] I guess you could maybe try... showing him your teeth...? Telling him that's what you're saying he doesn't have?

It does, but Night Furies are pretty notable. We kind of switch off of 'who does the bad guy actually value alive and want the other for a hostage' a few times.

I mean, I could. If I haven't already tried that. He probably understands the teeth part, I think the less would be a sticking point. Compound words and all.

[ But he's now more focused on the nail polish. Does pause, at least, to wipe the little brush on the inside of the bottle's neck, so he doesn't wind up getting way too much polish on the first nail. Concentration is happening now, and the tip of his tongue juts out of the corner of his mouth for a moment]

[ Wow, rude. ] [ The first nail takes a bit, but it's pretty competently done, and by the third he's easing up at least a little. But he still won't be trying to make conversation until he's got most of the first hand done and he hasn't, like, gotten nail polish all over Rye's hand. ]

—Right, and I couldn't resist the obvious joke, and you said it's all the time you spend working with your forge. [ Beat. ] Which also sounds kind of like a euphemism, but I'm assuming you mean literally.

[ Starting pain on Rye's other hand. ]

...Right, but. For the record, calling it 'way too hot' doesn't help.

[ A chuckle, his eyes dropping back to the nails. He's really not doing a bad job. Which is good, because it might've stung his pride, as much as Rye said he wouldn't (and probably really wouldn't) care. ]

Doesn't really — do half-assed, as a rule. Maybe if he were trying to make a point about the task, but even then he's more of a 'malicious compliance' kind of guy. ]
